Significance

Worship of Surya, the Sun god, and Chhathi Maiya for health and prosperity.

How it is celebrated

• Nahay Khay and Kharna rituals
• 36-hour fast without water
• Offering arghya to the setting and rising sun while standing in water
• Thekua and fruit offerings in bamboo baskets
